Sweet & Cool: It's Swing Time. The Swing Revival, the cultural phenomenon of the 1990s and early 2000s which featured renewed popular interest in the swing period of the '30s and '40s is now crowned with the new album released by Lola's World Records: Swing Style.
"Swing Style" compiled by Germany based DJ Gülbahar Kültür and released with Lola's World Records is the ultimate album that venerates the return of the swing sound. From fans of this genre to any danceacholic, the album is a perfect one featuring the music of classical swingers as well as new wave of smooth crooners. Full and tight with danceable songs, "Swing Style" brings artists who swing out anyone, like America's great jazz divas Shirley Horn, Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan, the classical international star and the wondrous musician of Brazil, Sergio Mendes, Anita O'Day, the much admired jazz singer in the jazz pantheon who presented herself as a hip singer of the '40s, together with names like the celebrated and original Irish musician Sinead O'Connor, the famous Austrian musician Waldeck, the Dutch/Belgian lounge-duo Gare du Nord, Melvin Tormé aka The Velvet Fog, one of the great American jazz singers who is also the composer of a number of jazz standards, Georgia Gibbs, the well-known singer of the hit Absent Minded Moon and Eric Triton, the amazingly hot and powerful voice of Mauritius. The album brings great surprises like the Disco Queen of the early 80s Amanda Lear, also famous as a model, adult model, painter, novelist, actress, media personality, composer and lyricist, The Puppini Sisters, the musical trio specializing in 1940s-style close harmony vocal music who sing Beyonce's big hit Crazy in Love fantastically, Swing Sisters, the Danish trio renowned with their performances of hit songs of the 1940s and earlier, Herman Brood, the controversial character of the music scene of the '70s and '80s, G-Swing, the collective who have re- invented a dance-floor-oriented swing that combines house, electro and all that is beaty, bouncey and jazzy and Fred Astaire, the American dancer and singer famous for his appearances in the 1920s and 1930s at Broadway, who introduced many now-classic songs, including jazz standards. DJ Brame, one the veterans of the French electronic scene, now offering a new mix of Swing and House with a real Chicago flavour is also included in the very wide-ranging artist list of Swing Stlye, where Caravan Palace brings a perfect sample of the celebrated genre "jazz manouche" aka Gypsy Swing.
The playlist of the stylish, warm and groovy "Swing Style" is undoubtedly unique with songs covered like Marvin &Miles, Hit the Road Jack, The Boy from Ipanema, Watch What Happens, Teardrops from My Eyes, I Wanna be Loved by You, Volare (Nel Blu Di Pinto Di Blu), Sweet and Gentle, Just A Gigolo, Crazy in Love, Sing Sing Sing, I'm Crazy 'bout my Baby, Memories, Puttin' on the Ritz and many more... Come on, let's swing again!
