Press Release : Tru Thoughts' first Shapes compilation of 2009 is a rather massive 29 track double CD collection, featuring a selection of current highlights, remixes and exclusive tracks from acts including Quantic and his Combo Bárbaro, Bonobo, Belleruche, The Bamboos, Nostalgia 77 Sessions featuring Keith and Julie Tippett, Kinny, Stonephace and all the excellent artists currently signed to the roster, of which there are far too many to mention in one coherent sentence. Suffice to say, over the two discs - arranged into 'home listening' and 'DJ' modes - there is plenty of great music for your ears and dancefloors, from minimal soul through downtempo beats and lush jazzy vocal tracks to floor-filling basslines.

The exclusive tracks on the compilation include drum 'n' bass producer Kjell's remix of The Bamboos' 'Amen Brother' cover; exclusive dancefloor bangers from Azaxx and Hint; a Broken Keys remix of Natural Self's The Rising featuring Andreya Triana; Opolopo remixing Lanu; and a never-before-released, spine-tingling acoustic version of The Bamboos' "I Don't Wanna Stop" featuring Kylie Auldist. There's also a killer Examples of Twelves remix of Lizzy Parks, as well as appearances from Part Time Heroes, Unforscene, Freddie Cruger aka Red Astaire, Mr Beatnick and that master of the catchy hook, Flevans, who has recently re-signed to Tru Thoughts and will be releasing his third album in May.

To reflect the sheer wealth of DJ weapons that Robert Luis (Tru Thoughts A&R) has managed to amass for this compilation, there will also be a limited pressing of 500 numbered 7 track vinyl featuring some of the biggest cuts and boasting the full double CD inside as well

Estou definitivamente de férias:

Primeiro já lá vão três hoje, segundo estou numa de ouvir lo-fi, downtempo ou o que lhe quizerem chamar. Não me perguntem porquê, mas algo se passa.

No seguimento das brilhantes series Late Night Tales e Back to Mine, a Backdrop lançou esta serie e logo com um dos meus projectos favoritos como seleccionador.

Através das escolhas para esta colecção percebem-se as referências dos Nuspirit Helsinki e onde foram beber para nos oferecerem o seu som, um melting pot de sonoridade contemporânea da Escandinávia e sons do norte da Europa á mistura com folk, pop, electronica e jazz.

Mais um belo conjunto de temas para o final de tarde.

A pergunta do título deste post pode soar estranha, mas confesso que só consigo pensar em Champagne enquanto ouço estas colectâneas.

A mistura de bossa nova, lounge, nujazz, latin-lounge, worldbeat e chanson apenas nos transportam para um bom feeling tão escasso nos dias que correm. Os três volumes não diferem muito em estilo , pois o que caracteriza esta série é precisamente o não ter um unico estilo. Apenas um ligeiro toque francês com um efeito muito próprio o que nos transmite boa disposição.

C'est ça le vrai bonheur ... este comentário simples provavelmente representa o verdadeiro sentido e espirito da série Smile Style.

Nada melhor para comemorar a chegada dos dias mais solarengos e compridos do que uma banda sonora ideal para momentos de relaxe.

O que vos proponho hoje são alguns títulos da série Café Lounge que conseguiu congregar ao longo dos seus lançamentos uma sonoridade fresca, suave e moderna, ideal para celebrar o niente fare do final de dia ou fins de semana.

Apresentando nos diferentes capítulos uma boa selecção de nu brasil, future jazz, bossa nova, lo-fi, world lounge e até algum house jazz, com nomes das editoras Schema, Irma e Far Out em grande destaque, perde um pouco por falta de alguma coerência de edição para edição, talvez pelo ponto de vista oriental do(s) seleccionador(es).

Esta série da Café Lounge tem, infelizmente, um pecado mortal, o preço. É estupidamente cara. Mesmo sabendo que são edições do Japão.

No entanto, em geral, a sonoridade e as escolhas resultam bem acima da média para este tipo de colectâneas.

Experimentem acompanhando com uma sábia escolha queijos e um bom tinto velho e digam-me se não sabe bem.

Milano Lounge é uma selecção jazzy e elegante de temas lounge inspirados numa das capitais mais importantes da moda mundial.

O que é que isto tem a ver com a musica? Provavelmente nada, mas quem já teve a sorte de conhecer Milão é capaz de entender que existe un non so che na cidade que consegue ser transmitido por certos temas que constam desta selecção.

Usando temas de artistas italianos como Nicola Conte, The Dining Rooms, Soulstance, o já veterano Paolo Conte e também remisturas do mestre das bandas sonora Ennio Morricone, consegue transmitir de forma coerente a tal aura milanesa.

Uma excelente forma de introdução neste estilo de sonoridades.

Já lá vão dez anos, a correr.

Uma das séries mais celebradas de sempre na música de raiz electrónica, a Saint-Germais des-Prés Café está de parabéns.

Pela bonita idade, mas principalmente por ter conseguido ao longo destes anos ter conseguido manter a fasquia em elevadissimo nível.

Esta edição oferece-nos dez anos de belos temas e canções da nujazz scene no primeiro disco e uma excelente mistura pelo "louco" Quantic no segundo.
